On March 19th, Mr. Jean-Eric Paquet, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union (EU) to Japan, visited our Ueno Head Office, accompanied by:

Mr. Gijs Berends, Head of Science, Innovation, Digital and Other EU Policies Section:

Mr. Tom Kuczynski, Science, Innovation, Digital and Other EU Policies Section.

Three members of Kawada Robotics, including President Kawada, welcomed them.

After giving an overview of our company and our group focusing on Kawada Robotics’ activities in Europe, we showed demonstrations of our dual-arm robot “NEXTAGE” at our showroom “Cobot Parlour”

Ambassador Paquet and his team stayed for about two hours, during which we explained the strong ties between our company and Europe.
・We have built a relationship with Spain’s Tecnalia through joint research for over 10 years.
・Thanks to our connection with Tecnalia, we are now participating in the CONVERGING project, under Horizon Europe – the EU’s Research and Innovation Framework Programme.
・Within under this project, in cooperation with robot manufacturers, system integrators, user companies, universities, and research institutes in Europe, we are working on an initiative to automate each use case of actual manufacturing sites such as robots for automobiles, home appliances, and aircraft using robotics and AI.

In response to the above, Ambassador Paquet said, “It is a great thing for Japan and Europe to cooperate in technology as seen in the connection between Kawada Robotics and Europe.”

We will strengthen our ties with Europe and other countries around the world and aim to expand our business globally.
